Picture shows amphibious armored vehicles attached to the 3rd Armored Infantry Company of a combined arms brigade under the PLA 72nd Group Army in a field training exercise. The company’s predecessor was the 4th Company, 370th Regiment, 124th Division under the 42nd Army of the CPV. In October 1950, the 4th Company blocked the 1st Division of the US Marine Corps in the Funchilin Pass. In the end, the company wiped out more than 250 enemies at the cost of 50 casualties and was granted the honorary title the “Hero Defense Company in Funchilin” by the CPV Headquarters.
