Recently, what we have felt most is the great achievements and changes of the past ten years in a new era. From features to TV documentaries, from the theme exhibition of "Forging Ahead in a New Era" to the achievement exhibition of military development, and from the column articles released to the publication of the Chronicle of Building a Strong Military Over Past Decade, all these events served to reflect the historic achievements and changes of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the country, as well as the Chinese military in the past decade. In return, great achievements are a reflection of the Party shouldering its responsibility and the spirit of fighting.
The key of China’s future lies in the Party’s strong leadership, under the guidance of the Party's innovative theories. What has been always behind the great achievements are the strength of leadership, theories and thought. It was under the leadership of the Party with General Secretary Xi Jinping at its core, and in the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, that the Chinese people have made such achievements over the past decade. Practice has fully proved that the "two establishments" (that is, the establishment of Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and the establishment of the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era) are the most important political achievement the Party has made in a new era, and it is the fundamental guarantee for achieving the goals and tasks of the new era and new course.
Institutional excellence is China's greatest strength and an important guarantee for the cause accomplishment. Over the past 10 years, China has overcome numerous risks and challenges, and thereby achieved great victories one after another, as shown by poverty eradication, epidemic prevention and control, and promotion of reform to ensure people's livelihood. These have been inseparable from the superiority of socialism with Chinese characteristics in concentrating strength for major undertakings. This remarkable advantage is a concrete manifestation of the most essential attribute of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Ten-year achievements have shown us that practice is the best touchstone for demonstrating whether the path is feasible and the system is suitable. As long as we Chinese people unswervingly follow the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, we will certainly create new historical achievements on the new course.
Happiness comes from hard work, and so do achievements. In the past 10 years, we have achieved fruitful results and created a new situation by taking the initiative to cut paths through mountains and build bridges across rivers and making great efforts down to earth. The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) pointed out: "The great achievements of the new era have come from the collective dedication and hard work of our Party and our people." On the new course, we will carry forward the spirit of struggle and constantly write stories of building a strong military with sweat and blood. We will also create new and greater miracles.
Behind the great achievements is the power of struggle. The development and changes in the new era have not come from heaven or been bestowed by someone else; instead, they have been achieved through constant struggles. Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, we have dared to and been experts at struggles to reorganize the pattern of struggle, restructure the layout of construction and effectively safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, as shown by effectively responses to external military provocations, deterrence of "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, carrying out border defense, counter-terrorism, handling of emergencies, and safeguarding stability. Going forward, we also need to strengthen our will to fight, enhance our ability to fight, respond to the changing situation, cultivate new opportunities, and open up new situations with suitable strategies, struggling to open up new fields during the cause.
Commendation of achievements aims to stimulate morale, and the power of achievements serves to help us win even greater achievements. The military soldiers and officers must grasp the decisive significance of the “two establishments” through actual practice and great achievements made in the future, committed to struggling in building a strong military, and making even greater contributions to the realization of the Chinese dream and dream of building a strong military.
