BEIJING, July 3-- In the past few days, continuous heavy rainfall has wreaked havoc in Hubei, Guizhou, Hunan and Jiangxi provinces, causing casualties and property losses. The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), the Chinese People's Armed Police (PAP) Force and militias have devoted themselves to emergency rescue tasks on the frontline.

In central China's Hubei province, continuous heavy rainfall and upstream water increased the risk of landslides and dam collapse. More than 300 PLA members and militiamen assigned to Hubei Provincial Military Command rushed to the frontline of flood prevention and rescue to relocate the affected people, build flood control dams and dredge blocked canals.

In Guizhou, the water in the dam of Hongqi Power Station in the upper reaches of the Wuyang River exceeded the warning water level as heavy rains continued in many parts of the province. The PAP Guizhou Corps immediately launched an emergency plan, and dispatched members of the Qiandongnan detachment to Zhenyuan County in the heavily affected Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture to help relocate people, transport relief supplies and clean up silt.

In Hunan, affected by days of heavy rainfall and upstream flood discharge, waterlogging occurred in some communities of Hecheng District, Huaihua City in this Province on June 30. The leaders of the People's Armed Forces Department (PAFD) in this district led the militiamen, carrying assault boats and other equipment, in evacuating more than 300 trapped people.

Water seepage occurred at Dasha Reservoir in Duchang County of east China's Jiangxi Province at 1:00 p.m. on June 29. The local PAFD immediately organized the militiamen nearby to deal with the emergency, and through arduous efforts, the water seepage was under control.
