Recent years have seen constant improvement in the military equipment, such as the commissioning of CNS Changzheng 18 submarine, guided-missile destroyer Dalian and amphibious assault ship Hainan. The scenes that three echelons of J-20 fighter jets flew over the Tiananmen Square, China's third aircraft carrier Fujian was launched, and more and more aerial refueling airplane were deployed in the real-combat training, have also impressed lots of people greatly.
"The breakthroughs in the pillars of our country in recent years have greatly boosted the morale of the military," said Zhang Faju, a deputy to China's National People's Congress (NPC), adding that innovation and development in national defense science and technology should be guided by operational requirements.
Deputy Cui Yuling said that the scientific studies should focus on coping with the changes in science and technologies, warfare and opponents. Scientific achievements should aim at combat readiness, and be benchmarked by the combat effectiveness.
When talking about the recent military scientific research and innovation achievements, the NPC deputies and CPPCC members from the military felt highly invigorated, illustrating that an automation equipment independently developed by an innovation team of the National University of Defense Technology of China has been formally commissioned to the military, some junior service members from an aviation regiment of the navy under the PLA Southern Theater Command won a national utility model patent, etc.
They also agreed that the top priority in winning future warfare deeply lies in implementing the strategy of strengthening the military through science and technology and accelerating the conversion of advanced science and technology to combat effectiveness. All troops should continue to foster the keen interest in learning and applying high-tech results, improve their abilities to employ new equipment, carry out scientific and technological innovation activities among the masses, and constantly elevate the significance of technological innovation in improving combat effectiveness.
